Yes! And it doesn’t matter what your fitness goals are either, whether it’s weight loss, building muscle, or you simply just want to increase your energy levels, adding protein powder into your diet every day is a great way to help hit your daily protein target and it takes very little effort and time to prepare a meal with it.
Most people choose to have a protein shake before or after their workout because it helps with muscle recovery but it also helps to preserve the muscle you’ve worked so hard at building, especially if you’re on a weight-loss plan and following a calorie reduced diet.
Here are some great ways to add protein powder into your diet:
Overnight oats for breakfast:
1/2 cup quick oats, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and 1/2 cup blueberries.
Mix everything up before bed and let it sit in the fridge overnight. In the morning the oats should be soft and ready to eat.
Protein shake between lunch and dinner:
1 cup milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 banana, 1 tbsp peanut butter.
Blend everything together and enjoy, Tip: freeze bananas when they’re ripe and add them to the blender for a frothier shake.
For a late night treat:
Try a protein hot chocolate. This recipe you can find on my website along with many others.
I call this recipe a Mexican hot chocolate and it tastes so indulgent and comforting but it’s so low in sugar and high in protein and also has a nice spicy kick. I like to have this before bed on a cold winter night.
Blend all these ingredients together:
-1 scoop chocolate protein powder
-1 tbsp cocoa powder
-pinch of cinnamon
-pinch of nutmeg
-pinch of cayenne
-1 cup skim milk or almond milk
Blend all the ingredients and then microwave them in a cup for 1 min- 1 min 30 seconds depending on how hot you like it.
