What an Experience!
It’s been 3 weeks since the London Championships- where I competed in the bikini short division for Ontario Physique Association. I got to compete with 14 other fit ladies and I placed 5th -Which qualified me to compete at a provincial level that will take place next year @ the Toronto Convention Center from May 30th to June 1st
I enjoy training and have a passion for working out and challenging myself with new exercises and heavier weights.
This wasn’t my first bikini competition and I can honestly say that it doesn’t matter how many competitions I’ve done, they never seem to get any easier! I accepted the challenge 3 months ago when I contacted a professional coach: Kim Oddo, to help me prepare to be in one of the best shapes of my life -and a struggling challenge it turned out to be! I had highs and lows including 2 colds I had to fight through – which made weight training harder more difficult and cardio harder to endure.
The main thing that kept me going was continuously seeing improvements in my body – I was seeing results! Everyday I felt tighter, and saw more muscle definition and every week my clothes would fit looser. Leading up to the show, I would count down the days until I would wear my red competition bikini that I ordered from Ravish Sands – which I thought looked so amazing with my stage tan! And because I was on calorie restrictive diet, a couple weeks out from the show I had already bought some of my favorite treats, chocolate and a jar of nutella (which is still chocolate lol but couldn’t help myself!)
I deserved all my post show treats – my 12 weeks of preparing for the London Championships I went from sweating 30 minutes on the treadmill to doing 60 minutes of cardio a day. My will power was tested every day with fast food surrounding me every where I went, but my desire to see progress was so much greater – spending one day to cook and prepare food for the whole week made dieting easier because I had all meals and snacks ready with me everyday.
